Center for Alcohol and Drug Resources (CAFS)

The Center for Alcohol and Drug Resources, a Program of Children’s Aid and Family Services, provides substance misuse prevention, education, information and referral services to county residents, businesses, schools, faith-based organizations, municipal alliances and social service agencies. Many of our services are offered to the public at no cost.

    The Community Reinforcement and Family Training support group teaches a skill-based approach to building better communication with loved ones who have any kind of addiction. CRAFT also emphasizes that family members of substance users must take care of themselves.

    In 12 two-hour sessions, you will learn to keep the “loving connection” from infancy, through elementary school, throughout the difficult years of adolescence, and beyond. Groups are generally made up of 8-12 people of all ages, who may be single parents or couples, and come from various backgrounds.
  • Strengthening Families Program (The Center for Alcohol and Drug Resources/CAFS)

    This is a multi-week program that is aimed at parents and/or caregivers and their youth ages 10-14.  The program helps parents and caregivers build on their strengths in showing love and setting limits, helps youth develop skills for building a positive future, and helps families grow together and become stronger.

    The Bergen County Prevention Coalition (BCPC) is a collaboration of individuals and organizations that are committed to, and passionate about reducing the rates of alcohol and drug use among youth and young adults in Bergen County.

    The Bergen County Prevention Hub is an initiative of The Center for Alcohol and Drug Resources which is a program of Children’s Aid and Family Services. Bergen County’s Prevention Hub was created in collaboration with The New Jersey Prevention Network (NJPN) to support the members of our community by providing a direct link to evidence based support services and educational programs.

  • Bergen County Addiction Support (The Center for Alcohol and Drug Resources/CAFS)

    We are proud to announce that we have launched a 24/7 hotline in partnership with the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office to help Bergen County residents access addiction services and support while we are all staying at home.

    If you or a loved one needs help accessing addiction services or support, call or text to speak with a Peer Recovery Specialist.

    Strengthening Families Program (The Center for Alcohol and Drug Resources/CAFS)

    The Strengthening Families Program for parents and youth is delivered over seven or fourteen weeks in parent, youth, and family sessions that are highly interactive and include role-playing, discussions, learning games, and family projects. The family skills program is designed to delay the onset of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use, increase resistance to peer pressure, and improve parent management skills.
