Social Skills Groups For Special Needs Children (H2H)

At Heart to Heart and Associates LLC, we know how important it is for children to socialize with peers and to practice daily skills with those in their age group. At our center, we provide different opportunities for children of different ages and capabilities to make lasting friendships and practice different social skills with their peers.

  • Saturdays 10 am – 12 pm- FULL
  • Wednesdays 4 pm – 6 pm – (must be verbal with no significant behaviors)
  • Thursdays 4 pm – 6 pm – (limited language)

Our Social Skills Groups are based from ABA programming, including the goals/skills each child strives to achieve.  Social Skills Groups are run by our ABA Staff and there is always a BCBA at the center to answer any questions. Our different Social Skills Groups are:

Wednesday from 4:00p.m. until 6:00p.m. - Social Skills Group for High Functioning Children with Special Needs

This group meets for two hours on Wednesday afternoons at our center.  It is smaller than the Saturday morning groups and consists of children who are considered high-functiong (high verbal skills).  During the two hours, children work on different social skills and try to obtain different goals throughout the session.

Friday from 7:00p.m. until 9:00p.m. - Social Night for Teens

On Friday nights, our teens (between the ages of 13 and 20) come to our center for movies, games, and activities.  For the two hours, our teens learn important social skills while getting to 'hang out' with their friends.  And as our teens get older, the group gets older as well.  It's a great social experience and an amazing night out for our teens.

Saturday from 10:00a.m. until 12:00p.m. - Social Skills Group for Children with Special Needs

Similar to our Wednesday group, on Saturday mornings, our children come to our center to play with friends and learn important social skills.  However, unlike Wednesday's group, every child is able to come.  Our group is broken into 3 different groups, depending on the child's age and capability, but every group still interacts with each other throughout the session.  Our Art Therapist also comes during the morning session, to provide an important artistic outlet for our children's thoughts and feelings.

Saturday from 12:15p.m. until 2:15p.m. - Social Skills Group for Children with Special Needs and Severe Sensory Needs

Compared to the other Social Skills Groups, our Sensory Social Skills Group is fairly new.  The Sensory Social Skills Group was created for our children who need constant sensory input and who needed a quieter environment.  Our schedule for the two hours consists of many different sensory breaks, along with time for our children to have personal/alone time.  Our Art Therapist will come at least once a month to provide a sensory-based artistic outlet for our children.

All of our Social Skills Groups meet at our center.
