Sensory Friendly Vaccination Clinic for Patients with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities (Holy Name Medical Center)

Thanks to funding provided by the Provident Bank Foundation, Holy Name is proud to partner with Bergen's Promise to create a safe and sensory-friendly space to accommodate the vaccination needs of individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

LOCATION: 

Holy Name PharmaCare is located on Level 1 at the rear of the medical center, between the Patricia Lynch Cancer Center and the Emergency Department. Entry is through the door nearest The Alfiero & Lucia Palestroni Foundation Multiple Sclerosis Center.

Hours
Monday – Friday:  7:30 am – 6:00 pm

Saturday:  9:00 am – 3:00 pm

She will be able to answer specific questions about available vaccinations and insurance coverage and will gather information needed to make the family’s visit successful.

Pharmacare will do their best to accommodate families' schedules whenever Pharmacare is open. 

Who is eligible?

Anyone age 5 years and older with intellectual or developmental disabilities who would like to receive a Covid-19 vaccine and/or a flu vaccine.

What should you expect?

  • The space includes multiple sensory supports including tactile sensory toys and tools, calming visual and lighting options, and customizable white noise in a welcoming environment.
  • Appointment times will be scheduled to support individualized care.
  • Staff will be prepared to discuss your needs and work with you and your family to make your vaccination experience as smooth as possible.
  • You will be asked to stay for a 15-30 minute observation period after the vaccine.

What to bring

  • Valid ID for parent/guardian
  • Valid ID for patient (if applicable)
  • Patient's insurance card
  • CDC Vaccine Card (if they have received a previous Covid-19 vaccine)
  • Please feel free to bring any additional items that would help with the vaccine process.
