The Nurturing Parenting® Program is a family-centered, trauma-informed, evidence-based curriculum designed to build nurturing parenting skills as an alternative to abusive and neglecting parenting and child-rearing practices. The nurturing philosophy of non-violent parenting focuses on the development of empathy, self-worth, self-awareness, empowerment, discipline with dignity, appropriate family roles and age-appropriate expectations of children's development.
Nurturing Parenting® Program Lessons are Competency Based. Each lesson offered, has identified competencies the parents need to learn, and the facilitator uses in order to guide the implementation of the curriculum. The individual lessons, assessments, evaluations and home practice assignments are all designed to ensure parents are acquiring the stated competencies.
The Nurture Parent facilitator utilizes a range of tools such as lesson guides, DVDs, parent handbooks, and assessment inventories to provide individualize lessons to address different types of learning.
