Nurturing Children - Helping Parents

Our staff believes that children flourish in educationally stimulating and loving community-based environments. More than 200 youngsters and 500 parents and guardians were helped in 2016.  With our recent expansion, we are now serving 400 children and 1,000 parents. Our program not only meets parents' needs for affordable child care but the children's needs are fully met as they receive nurturing in all developmental domains in a secure, child-centered environment.

Leonard Johnson Day Nursery
Children ages 4 months to 4 years learn to build both socially and emotionally secure attachments, develop academic skills to promote school readiness, work on fine and gross motor development, receive nutritional meals and snacks, and participate in hygiene routines that adequately tend to their needs.  Developmentally appropriate and culturally sensitive toys, learning tools, and equipment are all available.  The Leonard Johnson Day Nursery is accredited by NECPA (National Early Childhood Program Accreditation).

Pre-K Expansion
With a state-funded partnership with the Englewood School District, up to 40 4-year-olds participate in Pre-K concurrent with the District calendar and learning goals and objectives. Developmentally appropriate and culturally sensitive toys, learning tools, and equipment are all available here at Bergen Family Center.

After School Program
For working parents of 300 children in grades Pre-K to 3.  Daily enrichment, homework assistance, snack, and child-care led by licensed faculty.
