About the Course:
This interactive workshop focuses on the history of Social Work Ethics, the major elements of ethics, changes to the Code of Ethics in 2021 and ethical issues surrounding COVID 19. In this workshop, participants will learn about the ethical models for decision making and small group discussions to identify and clarify how they view and make decisions when confronted with ethical dilemmas. There will be an overview of the Recent changes in 2021 in the Social Work Code of Ethics that social workers need to be aware of, as well as resources when confronted with ethical dilemmas. Ethical areas covered include workplace harassment, dual relationships, ethical decision making, and common ethical issues reported by counselors. Identifying ethical situations that have arisen during COVID 19. Teaching methods include lecture, interactive exercises, and group participation/discussion

About the Instructor:
Jacynth Pelland, LCSW, ACSW, LCADC.CJC.
Ms. Pelland is the Program Coordinator Intensive Recovery Treatment Support for Rutgers University Behavioral Health Center-Community Based Services-Intensive Recovery Treatment Support (IRTS) since November 2020.

Who Should Attend:
This is an intermediate level workshop for social workers and mental health practitioners interested in learning the latest changes in the Code of Ethics in 2021 and ethical issues surrounding COVID 19.

Course Objectives:
This course will discuss the definition and purpose of ethics and then go into the history of social work ethics, including the most recent changes in 2021. Overview of 2018 changes in Duty to Warn. The course will discuss the various types of ethical dilemmas such as workplace harassment, dual relationships, ethical decision making, and common ethical issues reported by Social Workers. The course will cover 5 models of ethical decision making and participants identify the model that they use in ethical dilemmas as well as resources available to assist in these situations. Small group discussion about what ethical dilemmas have arisen during COVID 19.
Learning Objectives:
1. Workshop participants will be able identify two changes in Social Work Code of Ethics in 2021. 2. Workshop participants will be able to identify two changes to NJ Duty to Warn statute that were implemented in 2018.
3. Workshop participants will be able to identify at least two different theories of ethical 5.
4. Workshop participants will be able to identify a model that can be used in making ethical decisions.
