Get Ready for the New School Year: Understanding Your Special Education Rights and Your Role in the IEP Process (FSOBC)

This training will give you an understanding of your rights and roles as a parent of a child receiving services in special education.  The purpose of federal and state special education regulations is to ensure that all children with disabilities receive a free and appropriate public education that includes special education and related services designed to meet their unique needs and prepare them for further education, employment, and independent living. Parents/Guardians have an important role in the development of an Individualized Education Program (IEP) and the workshop will review the key components of an IEP and discuss the family’s role in the process of developing an IEP.
