Encounters In Black Traditions

Talking to the community you begin to realize the most valuable traces of a lost neighborhood are not the traces left on city streets or filed in archives. They reside in the soul of a community as Moments, Sounds and Smells held in it’s imagination, the tools of personal interpretation we all possess.

Encounters in Black Traditions, an incorporated Not for Profit Organization, was developed as a digital multi media inner city minority folk arts video series, to document, educate, archive and showcase life on life terms.

This project has documented a wide variety of creative and artistic responses to peopling process. Suburbia and  Inner cities has became home to African Americans who migrated here with strong southern roots and beyond. Part melting pot and part cultural mosaic. This project will bring these traditions into classrooms, museums, festival showcases and submitted to various digital distribution networks around the world so that the residents of Suburbia and the Inner Cities may be appreciated for their significance and importance as part of the American Pie.
