The Bergen County Home Improvement Program provides resources to rehabilitate existing one- and two-family housing. The Bergen County Home Improvement Program (Get HIP!) provides resources to rehabilitate existing one- and two-family housing.  Learn about the unique low-cost financing offered to qualified Bergen County residents who own and live in their homes!   No Monthly Payment, Interest-Free loans of up to $17,500 for single-family home/condo interiors and up to $25,000 for two-family homes.  Payback of the loan is due only when the home is sold or the title is changed and there are no additional fees.

FUNDING IS ALLOCATED ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE BASIS.  

Eligible improvements include heating, plumbing, electrical, roof, leaders, gutters, exterior siding, windows and doors, driveway, sidewalk, steps, and more! (Home improvements to basements and attics, other than related to infrastructure, e.g., plumbing, heating, HVAC, etc. are not permissible.)
