Meet Leading Schizophrenia Researcher

Meet The Professional Presents Dr. Steven Silverstein, Professor of Psychiatry at Rutgers, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Director of the Division of Schizophrenia Research at Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care and Co-Director of the Rutgers- Princeton Center for Computational Cognitive Neuropsychiatry.

Dr.Silverstein’s research interests are in perceptual and cognitive changes in people with schizophrenia and rehabilitation of those problems. He has over 200 publications related to schizophrenia and has received many awards for his clinical program development and research efforts.

Approximately two-thirds of people with schizophrenia report changes in visual perception (e.g.changes in brightness, color, depth, shape of objects),especially early in the course of illness. In addition, many lab studies have demonstrated visual processing changes in schizophrenia. How are we to understand all of these changes?
