The Bergen County Juvenile Fire Prevention Program (BCJFPP) is an early intervention program for youth up to the age of 18 displaying recurring interest and/or engagement in firesetting behavior. The goal of the program is to reduce the overall problem of firesetting by working with juvenile firesetters to identify underlying issues and provide intervention to minimize firesetting behaviors.
The BCJFPP team will:
- Categorize the risk of future firesetting using self-report inventories.
- Provide fire safety education to learn the proper uses of fire and its associated dangers.
- Provide counseling services to address individual or family needs that may contribute to firesetting behaviors.
- Provide referrals for further treatment.
Eligibility | All services for youth 18 years and under that reside in Bergen County are of no cost to the family. Please see attached FAST tool (FLYER) to help assess if a youth should be referred to the BCJFPP. |

Care Plus NJ
Provider of comprehensive, recovery-focused mental health and substance abuse services in Northern New Jersey with a range of services. Outpatient programs in Bergen County, both Medicaid and non-Medicaid, serve youth under age 21.
F.O.R.W.A.R.D. (Care Plus NJ)
F.O.R.W.A.R.D. (Focus on Resilence with Assistance, Resources & Deternination) is an 8-week psycho-educational group for youth 12-18 years of age who have begun to use or experiment with drugs and/or alcohol. The group is designed to educate youth on the potential dangers of substance use and teaches healthy decision making, positive coping skills, and social activities that do not involve the use of drugs or alcohol.
Children's Mobile Response (Care Plus NJ)
Children’s Mobile responds to the needs of children and families in crisis in Bergen County. It strives to maintain children in safe and stable living arrangements by providing interventions designed to stabilize, and improve relationships within the family while also addressing areas of stress.
ALLIES: LGBTQ Support Group (Care Plus NJ)
ALLIES (Acceptance, Life, Leadership, Identity, Education and Support), a LGBTQ wellness and support group for youth age 14 through 17.
ALLIES creates a safe-space to empower LGBTQ youth while providing self-help support strategies, peer connectedness, education, and an environment promoting wellbeing.
Adolescent Outpatient Programs (Care Plus NJ)
CarePlus offers a variety of group therapy – support groups and therapeutic group sessions – that enhance the mental and physical well-being of children, teens, and parents who are struggling with social, behavioral, and mental health challenges.
NJ Children's System of Care (CSOC)
The New Jersey Children's System of Care (CSOC) serves youth 5-21 with emotional and behavioral health challenges, developmental and intellectual disabilities, or substance use challenges and their families. To access in home services through NJ's Children's System of Care (CSOC) call PerformCare 1-877-652-7624 - 24 hours a day/7 days a week.
Brighter Future (Care Plus NJ)
This group targets youth 12-18 years of age who struggle with anger and other impulsive behaviors. The 10-week, evidence-based, curriculum, improves anger management skills, increases social skills, and improves personal relationships.
Partnership for Children's In-Community Services (Care Plus NJ)
The CarePlus Partnership for Children program supports the Wraparound Model of Care Philosophy to provide families with a solution-focused therapeutic intervention to address the emotional and behavioral health needs of children and adolescents.
Parenting with Common Sense: Spanish Group (Care Plus NJ)
This parenting education group features Common Sense Parenting®, an evidence-based model. Through 8 weekly group sessions, parents will learn practical and effective ways to discipline their children, increase positive behaviors, decrease negative behaviors, and teach age-appropriate skills.
Parenting Skills - Parent Guidance (Care Plus NJ)
The Parent Guidance Program is a psycho-educational program dedicated specifically to the enhancement of parenting skills through the provision of in-home support, mentorship, empowerment, and education.
Outpatient Detox (Care Plus NJ)
The process includes an intake to determine appropriateness for the service, on site medical clearance, pharmacy dispensary for the medication administration and medical supervision to allow for a comfortable intervention.
The Family Support Center: Support for Families Who Have a Loved One with Opioid Use Disorder (Care Plus NJ)

Crossroads to Wellness (Care Plus NJ)
Crossroads to Wellness is designed to meet the needs of adults residing in Bergen County with acute mental health issues. The program provides rapid access to comprehensive services in order to maintain an individual's stability in the community and avoid hospitalization. Services are provided on a short-term basis for a period of 2 to 3 months, while an individual is awaiting linkage to community providers.
Korean American Outpatient Services - KAOS (Care Plus NJ)
KAOS is a Care Plus NJ program specifically designed to provide linguistic and culturally appropriate services to meet the mental health needs of the fast-growing population of Korean American children, adolescents and adults in Bergen County.
Integrated Care Management Services (ICMS) (Care Plus NJ)
The ICMS philosophy is based on a person-centered approach to treatment, utilizing the individual's available resources, supports and strengths. ICMS believes in the importance of working with the individual's expressed needs and goals, and supporting the individual's values, rights and abilities to live a life that is within their capacity.
Women's Inmate Service & Education - WISE (Care Plus NJ)
Women's Inmate Service & Education (WISE) works with adult females who are currently incarcerated in the Bergen County Jail and enrolled in the Drug Rehabilitation Center (DRC). The women are introduced and educated about designated topics, related behaviors and consequences. Participants remain linked with services for 90 days (completion of program), however, longer engagement may be provided to assist with seamless transition to the community.
Therapeutic groups allow the women to identify positive behavioral oriented goals, instill self-awareness, suggest options for growth and change, identify community resources and develop an understanding of the process of recovery and wellness.
Rapid Re-Housing for Individuals - RRHI (Care Plus NJ)
A Care Plus program designed to assist individuals 18 years or older, who are literally homeless in Bergen County, secure permanent housing. The program couples rental assistance and case management services to ensure the individuals are successful in sustaining their housing placement.
The rental assistance provided is time limited and calculated based on the individual's income, which allows time for them to increase their income or find gainful employment. A Housing Specialist will assist the individual in locating and securing a permanent residence, provide ongoing case management services that include wellness and recovery-oriented support services, budgeting skills, financial management, employment search, advocacy and linkages to eligible community resources to be self-sustaining.
Supported Employment (Care Plus NJ)
Supported Employment helps those who live with mental illness locate, acquire and keep full or part-time jobs in their community. We provide a wide variety of individualized supports and career planning – an excellent match for individuals who have a strong desire and commitment to work.
Supported Employment mutually assists those with a persistent mental illness find and keep employment that best fits their needs. Supported Employment is not a job placement agency. Instead, Supported Employment encourages active participation throughout the career exploration and job search process. Jobs are developed with the individual's needs, goals and employment preferences in mind.
Healthy Families - TIP Hudson & Bergen County (Care Plus NJ)
Healthy Families – TIP Hudson & Bergen County is a voluntary home-based program designed to support and educate new parents to promote healthy families. It serves prenatal families, as well as TANF, GA and Emergency Assistance (EA) recipients with a baby under 12 months of age.

Adoption House (Care Plus NJ)
A Home-Like Environment for Children Awaiting Permanent Placement. The transitions children and families go through when children are placed out of home is an intense change which triggers many new emotions. Enriched services facilitate the transition and assist families in moving toward permanent placement.
Homeward Bound (Care Plus NJ)
Homeward Bound assists DCP&P referred adolescents age 18-21 out of the children's system of care by developing independent living skills and providing case management services.
Strive for Independence (Care Plus NJ)
A dynamic supportive housing program servicing homeless youth that are aging out of the Children's System of Care. This program serves males and females ages 18-21 and is designed to develop life skills and strengths to help youth reach their full potential.
Therapeutic Intervention Services - TIS (Care Plus NJ)
All individuals deserve the opportunity to receive support and treatment for mental health and substance abuse problems in an environment characterized by mutual respect and dignity within the least restrictive setting appropriate to their needs.
Visitation, Counseling and Reunification (Care Plus NJ)
The CarePlus Visitation, Counseling & Reunification Program provides a structured and therapeutic environment for parents involved with DCP&P to meet with children currently in out-of-home placement. This program also offers 1 hour of family therapy with provisionally licensed level clinicians.
Families First (Care Plus NJ)
Families First is Bergen county's Family Preservation Services Program. It provides goal-oriented services to reduce the risk of out-of-home placement for children with DCP&P involvement.
Coordinated Specialty Care and NJ Promise (Care Plus NJ)
Coordinated Specialty Care is an early intervention program with a multi-disciplinary, team approach to care. NJ Promise works to identify young adults not more than 25 yr at clinical risk for psychosis.
RISE (The Recovery & Individualized Support Expansion Program) (Care Plus NJ)
Care Plus is now offering free supportive services for youth and young adults in the community who may be at risk for substance use, or who are current struggling with substance use related concerns.
