The Rutgers University Program in Juvenile Justice and Youth Development is pleased to announce the launch of our Juvenile Justice and Youth Development Certificate Program!

Designed to attract, recruit, train, and retain a workforce prepared to address the demands of juvenile justice and work with young people impacted by the system, the Rutgers Program in Juvenile Justice and Youth Development offers professional education opportunities drawing from the fields of psychology, social work, criminal justice, law, and education.

The Juvenile Justice and Youth Development Certificate Program consists of 60 hours of live, instructor-led online learning, so you can log on and attend class from anywhere, while learning from leading faculty and experts in the fields of juvenile justice and youth development. The course requirements can be completed in six months or spread out over a longer period to accommodate your scheduling needs. The certificate curriculum consists of four foundational courses, five electives (with offerings on topics including juvenile law and related policy, mental health, and substance abuse interventions) and a capstone project.

The certificate program is recommended for professionals who work with justice impacted youth in a variety of settings, including:
