This presentation will explore the science and research behind the complex gut/brain relationship. Studies have shown that digestion and our gut microbiome play a critical role in regulating brain function, mood, and behaviors associated with addiction.
Topics will include the impact of nutrient absorption on neurotransmitter creation, the enteric nervous system, and the relationship between the microbiome in our digestive track, our mental health, and addiction.
Upon completion of this webinar, attendees will be able to:
- Identify the connection between the enteric nervous system and the central nervous system as it relates to mental health
- Assess effects of the GI microbiome on mental health
- Explain how addiction, chronic stress, and medications influence the nervous system and digestive system
