Post Adoption and Kinship Counseling Services (PACS) (CAFS)

Children’s Aid and Family Services offers outpatient Post Adoption and Kinship Counseling Services, also called PACS, to the entire Bergen County community.

  • Serves families who have adopted children, up to age 21
  • And families who finalized Kinship Legal Guardianship with DCP&P for a child through age 18
  • Provides family focused and individual therapy, free and without time limits
  • Families are seen in our Fair Lawn office, with the possibility for in-home therapy where there are challenges to in office
  • Specializes in the unique challenges & difficult emotions areas of adoption, grief and loss, separation from birth parent/family; kinship care; lifebook/lifestory; trauma

All of our clinicians specialize in the clinical concerns of adoption including, but not limited to: identity issues; loss and separation; curiosity about origins; and feelings of difference. There is no fee for any of the PACS services provided to families, and services are available in our Fair Lawn and South Orange offices.
