Crisis Intervention Team Training



Course Description:  The Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) is a nationally acclaimed best practice pre-booking Jail diversion model. New Jersey’s CIT program is a collaboration of county based professionals committed to improving their local county’s enforcement system and the mental health system’s response to persons experiencing a PSYCHIATRIC CRISIS . 

 CIT brings community stakeholders together to provide a safer and more effective response to people with mental illness who are in crisis.  This partnership develops and sustains a 40 hour CIT certification program for its police departments and mental health providers in order to provide them with knowledge about mental illness, crisis resolution skills and access to community based services. 

Who should attend CIT training: Law Enforcement (State, County & Local Police), Dispatchers, EMS, Hospital Security, Mental Health Professionals (School Personnel, Hospital Staff, Mental Health Screeners, Family Guidance, DCP&P, etc.), the Prosecutor’s Office/Court System ---- any professional who works with individuals who may be experiencing a mental health crisis.

Seats are limited to 30 applicants!

·        February 26th – March 2nd

·        May 7th – May 11th

·        September 24th – September 28th

·        December 3rd – December 7th

Registration forms will be sent out prior to each training.
